A Prayer for Life Transitions
Moving. Starting a new job. The beginning or end of a relationship. Trying out a new church. Having a kid. Adopting a dog.
Life is full of transitions. And transitions are, well, hard. They can cause stress and anxiety. They require new conversations with new people, and sometimes those conversations are rather awkward as we navigate personalities we haven’t dealt with before. Even when we’re excited about a change, adapting to new life rhythms makes us feel like a plant that’s been uprooted and replanted in new soil. We can feel rather unsettled, and it takes time to let our roots adjust to a new environment before we feel stable again.
So whatever transition you’re facing, here’s a Scripture and a prayer that helps us trust the steady hand of our faithful God.

I am still so excited about what God’s Word showed us yesterday. God doesn’t discard broken vessels—He remakes them!
That truth has changed my life because I’ve needed more than a second chance. I’ve needed grace again and again.
And God has never run out. This verse has become a battle cry in my own life:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV)
The Japanese art of “Kintsugi” is a beautiful picture of God’s work. Instead of discarding broken pottery, Japanese artisans assemble it and seam the broken parts with gold! This makes the “broken” even more valuable!
It’s the same with God! When something is marred, the potter doesn’t quit—he reshapes and reseals for a greater purpose. When the vessel seems beyond repair, God is preparing a whole new opportunity.
In truth, sometimes that process involves breaking things down before building something new.
Sometimes, the clay has to be “soaked” in God’s refining power so that it can be placed on the wheel one more time.
And that can be uncomfortable!
God may have to:
Remove pride
Break down bitterness
Reshape my desires
Soak my hard heart
Start all over again….
But it’s always for something better. He’s not making me less—He’s making me new.
And today, I choose to trust the process.
Even when it’s hard. Even when it requires letting go.
And because I know the outcome is worth it.
You can embrace that process today. It may be a journey, but it’s worth it. Let’s pray together:
“Jesus, thank You for Your grace. Thank You that You don’t give up on me. Even when the process is hard, help me trust that You are making something new in me. Remake my heart and my life. Amen.”

Examination of Conscience
The daily examination of conscience is an ancient Catholic practice. It's very simple, and it's designed to help us identify our sins and weaknesses so that we can improve and grow stronger in the spiritual life, while providing an excellent ongoing preparation for regular Confession. It consists of taking a few minutes at the end of the day to prayerfully review our actions in the light of God's commandments, followed by the Act of Contrition.
1. Reflect on the victories and losses
Actively reflecting on the high and low points of the day can help you live more intentionally and bring a renewed sense of resolve into the following day.
Review your actions, words, and thoughts today. Did you actively guard yourself against temptation? Where did sin creep in?
In what moments did you practice virtue and moral courage?
Were you attuned to the Holy Spirit's promptings today? Where did you feel His inspiration?
Ask Him for the graces necessary to follow His Will more purposefully tomorrow.
2. Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.
3. Practice gratitude
It is God's love that has brought you into existence and to this exact moment. Practice looking for His hand in your day.
Where did you feel His loving gaze upon you today?
What people or moments helped you see God in your life?
Thank God for all these moments!
Ask Him to help you recognize His blessings and providence tomorrow.
4. Renew your commitment to Christ
Remember: our Faith is founded upon a Person—Christ! Renew your personal love and devotion to Him.
Thank God for the gift of His Son Jesus and our call to be His disciples.
Tell the Lord of your desire to know Christ more personally.
If possible, set an intention for your day tomorrow. Ask Our Lord to guide you in this act.
Pray a Hail Mary, Our Father, or another beloved prayer.
Rest with God
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for Thou alone, O Lord, makest me dwell in safety.
