Why It Matters Whether you’re longing for the redemption of your past, comfort in your present circumstances, or guidance for your future, your hope is not in some long-dead historical figure, or a distant, eternal being with whom it’s impossible to have a relationship. Even if you face tragedy, failure, or injustice, you can have hope because Jesus’s presence is real, because God’s love is so powerful that nothing can separate us from it, and because his love and presence sustains us through anything we face in this life.
